Violet Winter

Violet Winter (Chicago/Los Angeles) is a bastard hybrid of electronic dance music and rock n’ roll that fuses elegant synths, throbbing mechanical rhythms, acoustic strings, ragged rock guitars, live drums and anthemic vocal chants into a signature sound the band aptly defines as electro-space rock. the band has been receiving subsequent acclaim from fans of rock and electro music alike, thanks in part to a series of captivating performances and the band’s eponymous debut album, featuring the hyper-sensual dancefloor hit “Abuse Me”.

Upon setting out to record the band’s follow up, Violet Winter mastermind Oscar Salinas began collaborating with co-producer Sean Payne [of Cyanotic/Glitch Mode Recordings] in the cold and grey months of early 2011. Recording during one of Chicago’s notoriously cold winters, the duo began constructing tracks for what would eventually become “Beyond The Exosphere”, a stark and unruly collection of new tracks with decidingly sinister undertones.

This bold 5-song EP melds the band’s own signature electro-space rock style with dark passages of cinematic atmospherics and brash experimentation, creating an unpredictable collection of tracks that are equal parts urgent, current, sexy and violent.
